MUSIC & MOOD

Music is one of the purest form of expressing emotions. Deep within, our heart resonates and tunes with music. Most of us hear people saying “I love music”. But have you ever thought how music impacts our lives ?

Often we come across posts and memes saying “I don’t have a girlfriend or boyfriend, I am not in love, but still I feel every line of the song with deepest of emotion.” Surprisingly what happens eventually is that the song begins to implement itself in our lives. How does this happen ?

The lyrics of the song are the thoughts. The emotions with which we hear the song generate immense feeling within us. These thoughts & feelings easily get imprinted on our subconscious mind, guiding our subconscious mind to create similar reality in our outer life. As a result, the songs create the pathway for our future.

These thoughts and feelings are the instructions that we give our subconscious mind, and the subconscious mind as an obedient servant starts working towards creating life situations to ensure we experience the feelings expressed in the song in exactitude. For this to happen, we are first made to fall in love and then also made to face separation. And why do we face separation? So that the pain of breakup can be experienced in the physical realm of life.

Surprised ?

Often when we go on long drives, most of us love hearing songs, most of which are composed around negative life experiences such as break-up, hardships of life, missing loved ones, loneliness, broken trust, etc. Even if we are in best of our moods while the start of the drive, over a period of time, such songs bring down our mood & make us sad for no new reason. Do observe this, if you haven’t. Why does this happen ? Every song has its own spirit. It’s composed with a purpose. It has a vibration of its own. Just as you tune into the frequency of FM and hear songs that are being played in that radio station, similarly you tune yourself to the frequency of the song and begin to vibrate at similar mood with which the song is sung. More frequent you do this, much more frequently, you end up in lower moods, not even understanding how you have opened the doors to such lower vibrations unknowingly, for no mistake of your own.

Hard to believe ?

I suggest you to find out your favourite childhood songs, go through its lyrics and see if it resonates with your life experiences. Sharing my personal realisation, one such childhood song I heard was “Tanhayee” from the movie “Dil Chahta Hai”. I love mathematics and during school days, when I would solve mathematical questions, I would plug in my earphone and hear this song on repeat mode. The result was 4-5 years later I ended up experiencing extreme loneliness. Also I failed in achieving my dream. And I always felt extremely sad. Well, nothing was unscientific here. Due to repeated hearing of the song, its lyrics became my subconscious pattern, and kept projecting itself in my outer world.

When I understood the impact song can have on my mood, I experimented long drives with happy songs that had progressive lyrics. I also experimented long drives with sad songs that had disheartening lyrics. I did this a several times. To my surprise, each time I heard happy songs, my mood got uplifted and I found myself emotionally better. And even in happiest mood, when I went on long drives hearing sad songs, they affected my mood and I saw a drop in my emotions. Satisfied with the science behind this, ever since then, I have been taking conscious efforts to better my playlist and let go off the sad & depressive songs from my playlist that hold potential to pull me into lowest of moods and don’t serve me any good.

This was my personal life experience. I would love hearing your experiences on how your playlist has been impacting your mood and your life. Do email us at [email protected] to share how your favourite song has contributed in the making of your life story.

Gracias.
